Atari built 13 commercial
Vector Games
from the first "Lunar
Lander" in 1979 with a b/w CRT until "Star Wars & The Empire
Strikes Back" in 1983/5 with color CRT. Some of these machines were
commercially
more or less a desaster. Although technically brilliant they often
lacked robustness and failed much way too often for the operators. One
must
remember, as opposed to nowadays, these Arcade Games were
built to earn money which means that they were supposed to run for long
periods without any operator intervention/repair. In this aspect vector
games were
not too good for earning money with them.
Today all of these are scarce at least here in Europe. One must have
some luck to find such a game on EBAY or locally. Even if you find one
the prices are very high. Most operators know in the meantime what
specialties they have.
